) - Naib timbalan Ketua Pemuda UMNO Malaysia, Khairy Jamaluddin hari ini membuat laporan polis terhadap penerbitan buku yang bertajuk “ Tuah dan Sial Khairy Jamaluddin” kerana telah mengugut beliau dengan bayaran wang sebanyak RM100,000.00. Yahya Ismail yang juga penerbit buku berkenaan telah datang bertemu mengugut Khairy bahawa sekiranya Khairy gagal membuat pembayaran beliau akan menerbitkan buku tersebut. Tujuan buku tersebut diterbitkan ialah untuk dihantar kepada semua perwakilan UMNO Malaysia kerana kandungan buku tersebut mempunyai unsur-unsur fitnah terhadap Khairy yang cuba memberi imej buruk kepada perwakilan beliau.

Beliau membuat laporan polis tersebut di Balai Polis Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur. Menurut Khairy lagi, Yahya Ismail berkata bahawa beliau dita

ja oleh musuh-musuh politik Khairy dalam UMNO sendiri.

Di sini berlakunya ugutan dan khairy menegaskan bahawa beliau tidak akan tunduk pada sebarang ugutan walaupun Yahya meminta beliau membayar sebanyak RM100,000.00 agar buku tersebut tidak dicetak , dijual dan diedarkan kepada perwakilan.

"Ugut tahi minyak apa? Ugut (itu) macam nak pukul, bubuh pasir dalam tangki minyak kereta dia. Tidak ada (ugutan). (Pertemuan) ini bisnes.

"Kalau (Khairy) nak beli, beli. Kalau tidak mahu beli, sudah. Saya pergi, saya tidak bercadang nak ugut beliau,"  katanya (foto) kepada Malaysiakini.

Menceritakan lebih lanjut beberapa perbualan dalam rundingan tersebut, penulis veteran itu berkata:

"Saya kata awak beri RM100,000 kepada saya, awak ambil hak cipta (buku tersebut). Khairy kata, 'saya beritahu esok'.

"(Sewaktu) orang dia bawa balik saya, (mereka) bertanya, 'tidak boleh berunding sedikit?'

"Saya kata, 'itu pun harga sudah kurang.' Keesokan harinya orang dia datang beri (balik) naskhah, (orang Khairy berkata:) 'Khairy tidak ada duit. Khairy tidak jadi beli'.

Sony eBook Store to offer classic books digitized by Google

Malaysia (skyters) - If you have a Sony Reader, you have a lot of reading to catch up on. Sony Electronics has struck a deal with Google to distribute half a million titles through the Sony eBook Store -- for free.

The books, all published before 1923 and now in the public domain, were digitized by Google as part of its Google Book Search program. Sony will offer them alongside the 100,000 or so books still under copyright that it sells through its eBook store.

It's already possible to download public domain books from Google Book Search as PDF files and copy them onto a flash memory card for use in e-readers such as Sony's, but this partnership will simplify the process for users by integrating it into the eBook Library Software for PCs that ships with the Sony Reader.
